Plymouth Half Marathon 2024

  • Plymouth, England, PL1 2PJ United Kingdom (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The countdown has begun to one of our favourite local annual events, the Plymouth half marathon. We love this event for many reasons but ultimately because it’s centred around bringing our community together and encouraging everyone to get involved.

What’s also great about this event is that the hard-working behind-the-scenes event crew at Redrok Events work incredibly hard at making this event an opportunity for local charities like The Primrose Foundation to benefit by offering all runners the opportunity to support their chosen charity.

You can enter as a solo participant or like many of our fantastic fundraisers have done so in the past, as a group of family, friends, or work colleagues, it’s all about getting involved and potentially making a difference.

Everyone enters with their own story, whether that’s to achieve a personal best or to make a difference to a charity close to their hearts, it’s an event that has no doubt touched most of us in some way, whether you have got involved yourself or sponsored someone that has. It’s an event that makes us proud to live in the Southwest.

If you would like to enter this year for your first time or for the thirty-third time we would love for you to consider supporting us and perhaps that support could help give you some extra motivation.

To sign up please click here https://runplymouth.co.uk/plymouth-half/ and to find out more about how you can support us please head on over to our fundraising page here https://www.primrosefoundation.org/download

Good luck from everyone here at The Primrose Foundation and thank you for choosing to support us.

The Primrose Foundation are giving their thrill-seeking fundraisers a real unique opportunity which will not only benefit our fantastic charity but the fundraiser too.

In 2021 we are teaming up with a company called ‘The different travel company’ to give you an opportunity to take part in their Sahara desert treck from the 11th- 16th November 2021.

The minimum age for this challenge is 18, It may be possible to participate if you are 16 or 17 years old but you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is no upper age limit. The ideal candidate would be fit, healthy and determined, open to adventure and adaptable to unexpected changes.

This trek in the Moroccan Sahara will give you an insight into this vast, diverse and beautiful landscapes as well as the Berber way of life. You will spend two full days and two half days trekking, camping each night will give you a chance to experience the stunning stars in the night sky (weather permitting) and the traditional Berber cuisine cooked by the team is second to none.

DSCN2217 (002).JPG

The trek is rated moderately challenging for someone of a good fitness level. The terrain is a mixture of hard, flat sundried plains, dried up ancient riverbeds, wide sandy dune fields and hard rocky outcrops. The Primrose Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Ball

EVENT POSTPONED

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FOLLOWING EMAIL WAS SENT OUT ON THE 7TH APRIL TO ALL THOSE THAT HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED TICKETS FOR THE BALL.

Dear Friend,

Firstly, may I say thank you, once again, for sticking by our side throughout these unprecedented times, we would not be here today without the support of local people like you and for that, we are truly thankful.

None of us could have predicted, or been prepared for the impact that the pandemic has had on all of us. The Charity sector, in particular, has been hit hard over the past twelve months however we are now looking to the future and starting to think about our fundraising events once again.

As you are aware we were due to celebrate our 25th Anniversary in 2020 and after much deliberation made the decision to once again reschedule our Ball, all be it, on two separate occasions and we now find ourselves wondering once again if 2021 is the right time to bring everyone together.

Your safety is our priority and so we feel that it would be wise to press pause on this event until perhaps Springtime, next year. This, we hope, will allow all our lives to return to some sort of normality and that everyone will feel comfortable to meet once again in larger groups. We are therefore going to ask that you bear with us and once we have a clearer view we will look at setting a date for us all to celebrate all of our achievements together in 2022 and we hope you can join us.

May we thank you once again for staying with us throughout these very difficult times for us all. Could we, therefore, ask that you kindly confirm if you are happy for us to keep your details and contact you again later in the year with a new confirmed date for our Springtime ball?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Maddy

Cycle Croatia

dubrovnik-croatia-poster-image-rsz.jpg

Have you ever wanted to go to Croatia and breath in the sea air and take in the beautiful landscape?? Well now is your chance with this exquisite three-day cycle along the Dalmatian coast of Croatia.

You will pedal over 300km in three days through postcard-perfect scenery with a bunch of other participates all waiting to raise some much-needed funds for their chosen charity.

We will mount your bike in the seaside city of Split and then make your way down the coast, stopping in the gorgeous Makarska, riding across the Adriatic island of Hvar and celebrating in the ancient, fortified city of Dubrovnik.

The route takes us through a dramatic canyon next to a river, on quiet roads through mountains and alongside a turquoise sea, until you will reach the royal finish line at Dubrovnik's medieval fortress.

The best part of this challenge is that you ride it all for The Primrose Foundation, maybe you could invite some friends or family to join in too? In three tough but stunning days, you can make a big impact for The Primrose Foundation, while having the experience of a lifetime and making a bunch of new friends.

If you are worried about fundraising please don't be... Cycle Croatia 2021 is an Open Challenge – this means you have the option to self-fund your participation and there is no minimum fundraising requirement.

You are, of course, more than welcome to commit to a minimum sponsorship target instead and fundraise for The Primrose Foundation.

Places are likely to go faster than ice cream at the seaside for this challenge, so please register soon to avoid disappointment.

London Marathon 2021

London Marathon 2021

We are elated to confirm that we have been successful in securing a charity place in the 2021 London Marathon. Next year marks the 25th anniversary of The Primrose Foundation and the 41st anniversary of the London Marathon therefore we were thrilled to receive the news that once again we have secured a place.

Amazingly, over 400,000 people apply for just 17,500 places in the London Marathon every single year, so places are hard to come by.  But if you take the place The Primrose Foundation have secured – you can beat all those queues and land yourself with a guaranteed spot in the 2021 Marathon!

If you would like to be considered for this place and represent The Primrose Foundation, your local breast care charity in the London Marathon 2021, please email us by the 14th August on info@primrosefoundation.org.

In this email, please include a bit about yourself so we can get to know you. We’d love to know the following:

  • Why you would like to run the London Marathon

  • Why you would like to represent The Primrose Foundation.

  • A brief outline of your fundraising ideas – you’ll need to commit to raising a minimum of £1,500 (but we’d love £2,500 as every penny goes straight back into the Primrose Centre and it is our 25th anniversary after all!).

  • Any other information you feel we should know!

We will of course provide fundraising support and advice every step of the way, as well as a branded running vest.

We know many of you will want to take this place so please get in touch asap! We will let you know if you have been successful by Friday 11th September. We only wish we could take each and every one of you but sadly we can only take one lucky person.

If you have already submitted a personal application for the 2021 London Marathon and wish to run on behalf of the foundation independently, please get in touch as we will of course support you too and send you your  own running vest FREE of charge.

We can’t wait to hear from you!

Best wishes

Team Primrose

The Dulux London Revolution

The Primrose Foundation would like to introduce The Dulux London Revolution to you. This is an incredibly unique event which you can take part in whilst supporting our awesome charity at the same time. Born as a London weekend of cycling the team at Threshold introduced a trails element in 2018 which brings cyclists, runners and walkers together to push their limits during the day and celebrate together at night.

This uplifting event offers  multiple options, you can take to the Trails on Saturday or join them on a ride over one or two days and or simply join everyone afterwards at their family friendly base-camp on the Saturday night.. This is the perfect setting for people to celebrate their achievements whilst resting in the well facilitated camp which includes bars, food and live music along with bouncy castles for the children.

Unlike other events after a high energy day you can relax and unwind in a selection of accommodation- you simply choose your level of luxury from the iconic Bell Tents, quirky Sheba Yurts or the stunning Baby Tipis, so you can hang-up your cycling/running gear and rejuvenate.

Whether you’re on two wheels or two feet, you will be offered unrivalled support along the way with training personal training plans & top tips to support you according to your range of fitness levels and abilities.

Simply register today and download our separate fundraising pack tomorrow.

Please note that when signing up for this challenge you do so via the organisation. Any additional fundraising activities are managed via The Primrose Foundation. For more help & advice on fundraising please download our fundraising pack.
