To celebrate National Tiara Day, we are encouraging our fabulous supporters to raise funds by holding their very own Royal Garden Party on Saturday 23rd or Sunday 24th May!

TOP TIPS ON HOW TO HOST THE MOST FABULOUS GARDEN PARTY

  1. Choose your VIP guest list, remember to over-invite, everyone has busy lives so give plenty on notice, set up a Facebook page and invite all your nearest and dearest.

  2. Choose your bakes!! Bake what you know, now is not the time to experiment. Ask for help from your friends and family, we all know a fabulous baker. Give yourself plenty of time, a cake can keep for several days so plan, plan, plan- Be sure to check for allergies with all your guests too.

  3. Once you know your numbers calculate and plan your seating arrangements, you’ll need to make sure there are enough seats for everyone- for added fun get your guest to bring their own!!

  4. The first point of call for any outdoor hosting should be to make sure your garden is clean and tidy; removed dead-heads off any flowers, mow the lawn in neat stripes, de-weed the patio and hide away any toys or gardening tools.

  5. Decide your prices in advance whether it’s an entrance fee or a handsome price per slice. Ensure you have something to put your donations into, whether it’s a Primrose fundraising pot or an old jam jar with some yellow ribbon around it.

  6. No party is complete without some music to set the scene and get your guests into the fundraising spirit. Barrow some portable speakers with Bluetooth if you don’t own some so it can be hooked up to your phone or a friend’s playlist.

  7. Get some decorative lights to set the mood. Hang a string of outdoor festoons along the fence or scatter a series of lanterns on the decking with long-burn candles inside.

  8. No royal garden party would be complete without its own styled table for food and drink; decorate your table-top with coordinating plates to match the theme.

  9. For adults-only parties, consider setting up a bar area in the garden to make and serve a series of fine wines and elegant tipples.

  10. 10.Keep guests entertained by supplying some fun activities for them to enjoy throughout the day. Games such as quoits, giant Jenga or boules are great for both kids and adults or set up a mini sports day with egg and spoon or three-legged races for younger children. Treasure hunts are another great idea to keep kids entertained—hide tokens around the garden and let them trade them in for fun prizes like water pistols or tasty treats.

Finally tip No 11:

Who is your inspiration behind your party, do you know someone affected by breast cancer, maybe they would like to say a few words of thanks or tell everyone about what Primrose did for them or perhaps you as the host have received treatment under Primrose, your guests would love for you to stand proud and toast to your story no matter how long or short it is/ was.

Oh & just one more, tip No 12:

HAVE FUN- Fundraising should be fun so enjoy the day, eat lots of cake and drink the bubbles, soak up the atmosphere with your dearest & dearest and the event.

Thank you for your support.
