International Day of Education – 24th January 2025

Today we wish to raise awareness of Education and Empowerment in the Fight against Breast Cancer through Knowledge.

Why Education Matters in the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Breast cancer remains the most common cancer worldwide, affecting millions each year. Early detection and timely treatment significantly improve survival rates.

Our chair of Trustees knows this first hand as she is a ‘survival thriver’ who had a career in education in Plymouth for over 25 years.

Education empowers individuals to:

  • Understand risk factors: See our other blogs to find out more about influences that contribute to breast cancer risk. Awareness campaigns such as our LOVE yourself enough to be breast aware and health education can help individuals make informed decisions to reduce their risk.

  • Recognise symptoms early: Knowing what to look for—such as changes in breast size, shape, or texture—can encourage women to seek medical advice sooner.

  • Access resources and support: This is why The Primrose Foundation is proud to support fellowships, education and training for members of staff at The Primrose Breast Care Centre, University Hospitals Plymouth.

On this International Day of Education, we are reminded that education isn’t limited to classrooms—it extends into homes, communities, and clinics.

The Role of The Primrose Foundation in Breast Cancer Education

By providing resources, organising events, and funding awareness programmes, we help to empower patients to take charge of their health. Whether it’s hosting breast cancer patient feedback events or supporting thrivers in their recovery journeys, these efforts save lives.

A Call to Action

Join hands with initiatives like The Primrose Foundation to spread awareness, advocate for equitable access to information, and empower communities through education. Because when we educate, we empower—and in doing so, we save lives.
