Love Yourself Enough to be Breast-Aware.

 

With breast cancer affecting every 1 in 7 women, it’s time to pay more attention to your breasts and the areas around them. It's time to LOVE yourself enough to be breast-aware.

It’s important to recognise when something’s not right. Get to know your body and look out for changes. There are many symptoms and signs of breast cancer, everyone is different so if something doesn’t look or feel right, get it checked out.

Here are some signs that could indicate the presence of breast cancer: 

  • A lump or swelling in the breast or in the armpit.

  • A change to the skin, such as puckering or dimpling.

  • A diffuse change in the colour of the breast – the breast may look red or inflamed.

  • A nipple inversion

  • An ulcer on the nipple

  • A nipple discharge that is spontaneous (not after expression) Blood-stained or clear fluid that persists daily for a couple of weeks. 

  • A change to the shape of the breast, concomitant with any of the above signs

Most often a breast change isn’t cancer but if it is then the sooner it is found, the more successful treatment is likely to be.

There’s no right, or wrong way to check your breasts, whether you empower in the shower or invest in your breasts before you get dressed, the key is to feel comfy by checking your breasts monthly.

LOVE yourself enough to be breast-aware by:

  • Look out for lumps, bumps, or dimpling.

  • Observe changes or something new.

  • Voice your concerns to a medical professional.

  • Echo this message to others.
