New Patron, Asmaa Al-Allak, Joins The Primrose Foundation

The Primrose Foundation is proud to announce that Asmaa Al-Allak has joined the team as our new patron.

Asmaa is a Consultant Breast Surgeon, a survivor of the Iran-Iraq war and most recently won The Great British Sewing Bee in July 2023.

Asmaa currently lives in Cardiff but was born in Iraq where she learnt her love of sewing. After escaping Iraq, at age 14, she and her family moved to Durham where her father was working as a scientist. At 18, Asmaa moved to Cardiff to study medicine and was a Severn and Peninsula Surgical trainee during which time she visited Derriford Hospital.

Asmaa lives with her husband and two children. Her wardrobe is mostly self-made as she likes to create brightly coloured outfits to match her designer shoes – her one indulgence to herself. She also specialises in making underwear which may come in handy for our Big Bra Drop Campaign. She is even known to have made post-op bras for her breast cancer patients.

Everyone at The Primrose Foundation wishes to welcome Asmaa to the team and looks forward to working together to help create a better future for breast cancer patients and their families.

Asmaa had this to say about her role.

‘’A few weeks ago, I walked into my office and found this beautifully handwritten letter from Fiona Osmaston, chair of Trustees asking if I would consider being the Patron of The Primrose Foundation. I cannot describe to you in words how much that letter touched me! It was an incredible moment that I will always remember’’.

‘’So, it is an absolute privilege and joy to be a member of this amazing team that has worked tirelessly for a cause that is so close to my heart and a big part of my life’’.

‘’Ladies and Gents brace yourselves! I am all in for the cause’’.
