Do you know the facts about breast cancer?

  • Breast cancer affects approximately one in eight women over a lifetime
  • Most women have at least one female relative with breast cancer
  • Men can get breast cancer too. About 1% of breast cancers occur in males
  • Breast screening is available for women free from the NHS in the United Kingdom. A Mammogram is taken every three years, from before your 53rd birthday, to your 70th
  • It is still important to be breast aware, because many cancers occur in between normal screening appointments
  • Mammograms are the best way of finding cancer in screening. No other test has been shown to work in large studies
